Chinese news outlet IT Home (via HXL) has posted a photo of the rumored GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, more specifically a custom ASUS GeForce RTX 3090 Ti TUF Gaming model. The new Ampere flagship will probably top the list of best graphics cards, at least in terms of performance. With the existing RTX 3090 (which already sells for more than 50% more than its original MSRP), it could also end up with a higher GPU price, if not more.
There are rumors that NVIDIA may launch the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti during CES 2022. as you would expect from the name, the graphics card will take the throne of the GeForce RTX 3090 and become the head of NVIDIA’s Amped Army. The latest leaked photos lend credence to the rumors of its imminent launch. Respected hardware sleuth kopite7kimi shared potential specs for the GeForce RTX 3090 Super back in September, but at the time he was unsure of the model name. NVIDIA seems to have chosen the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti moniker, which means that every RTX 30-series GPU now has a “Ti” variant.
Logically, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti will utilize the GA102 chip, which is Nvidia’s largest consumer amperage chip (i.e., excluding the data center GA100, which lacks ray tracing hardware, etc.) The GeForce RTX 3090 chip has 82 enabled streaming multiprocessors (SM), while the GA102 may have 84. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti will most likely come with a fully enabled chip. This means it will have 10,752 CUDA cores as well as 336 Tensor cores and 84 RT cores.
The GeForce 3090 RTX Ti is likely to be the first graphics card to utilize Micron’s fast 21 Gbps GDDR6X memory. The card will likely retain the GeForce RTX 3090’s 24GB configuration and 384-bit memory interface. However, the faster memory will allow the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti (21 Gbps) to slightly outperform the GeForce RTX 3090 (19.5 Gbps) in this regard to memory bandwidth. While the GeForce RTX 3090 can reach 936.2 Gbps, the Ti variant will deliver up to 1,018 Gbps, a 9% improvement.
